However, by using this method you can completely disable OS updates delivered through Windows Update. Windows Update will cease to function until re-enabled.

How to disable windows 10 automatic updates?
Right-click on “My PC” icon and select the “Manage”. Then click on “Services and Applications > Services”. Or You can also click the taskbar search bar and type services. Choose the matching result. If you do not see a search bar on the taskbar, it may be hidden. To search your PC, click or tap on the Start button and begin to type.
Locate and double-click "Windows Update". You'll most likely need to scroll down to the bottom of the list or you can also right-click the listing and select “Properties”.
For most, stop the Windows Update service. Click the “Stop” button, below the dropdown. Then Set the "Startup type" as “Disabled”. That will take care of Windows Updates not been installed on your machine. To re-enable updates, simply select “Automatic” from the dropdown.
Finally, save your changes and exit. Clicking the “OK” button will do this.
- We do not recommend that you disable automatic Windows Update in Windows 10. If your computer is fine with downloads in the background and doesn’t affect your work, it is not advisable to do it. But if you face slowdown of computer due to updates downloading and installing in the background, the above tip to disable Windows 10 automatic updates will be of some help.
